Join a well-respected environmental consulting company as a Junior Hydrogeologist, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta office as part of our Western Groundwater team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

- Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture
- Assist with the development and implementation of hydrogeology programs
- Perform a variety of field work including collecting drill cuttings/core/soil and groundwater samples, installing monitoring wells, conducting pumping tests, conducting packer testing, and installing, setting up and collecting data sets from groundwater monitoring equipment.
- Provide technical and project management support for a wide range of hydrogeology projects including:

- Hydrogeological characterization and assessments
- Aquifer feasibility studies
- Regulatory groundwater monitoring programs
- Field planning and execution
- Work with Project Managers to develop workplans that ensure project deliverables are in line with scope, timelines and budgets
- Prepare a variety of technical reports including analyzing, interpreting results and reporting on compiled project data
- Perform reliable regional geological and hydrogeological mapping utilizing GIS Mapping tools
- Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs
- Complete projects with a variety of off highway vehicles (e.g. side by sides, ARGOs), and helicopters
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders

What We Are Looking For
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
- Excellent problem-solving ability and effective project management
- A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative attitude
- The interest to complete work as a hydrogeologist-in-training or engineer-in-training
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within a consulting environment
- Practical experience in physical and contaminant hydrogeology including conceptual site model development, groundwater monitoring well network design, groundwater-surface water interaction, drilling and aquifer testing programs, and working knowledge of the Western Canadian regulatory environment Working knowledge of industry-standard software packages such as AQTESOLV, Surfer, AccuMap, GeoSCOUT, FEEFLOW and AQUACHEM
- Experience writing technical reports
- Mechanical aptitude
