**Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON**

**Hours of work**:35 Hours per week; Monday
- Friday. Occasional evenings and weekend work will be required in order to attend community events.

**Reports to**: Manager, Poverty Reduction and Community Engagement

**What you will do in this role**:

- Supervise and mentor employees including hiring, coaching, motivating, developing job objectives, managing performance, assigning, and delegating work, ensuring quality and service standards are met.
- Provide expert advice, feedback & recommendations on a range of issues related to poverty as well as the funding of poverty related programs, services & initiatives.
- Provide backbone support and management of all tables that are part of the Peel Poverty Reduction Committee.
- Lead internal and external multi-stakeholder projects, initiatives, research projects, and working groups related to poverty reduction and system changes.
- Create opportunities within Human Services and Peel Region to increase understanding of the impact of poverty on residents, clients, broader community, and the Human Services sector.
- Prepare council reports, briefing notes, position papers on poverty in Peel and related issues.
- Identify opportunities for consultations and focus groups with staff, residents, community partners and clients to inform proposed legislation, policies, and advocacy priorities.
- Work with stakeholders to gain consensus on Peel Poverty Reduction Committee (PPRC) advocacy priorities.

**What the role requires**:

- Relevant post-secondary Degree in Human Services or a related field
- 5 years relevant experience in strategic planning, community development and working within diverse communities
- One (1) year of direct supervisory/leadership experience
- In-depth knowledge of community needs, community development theories and practices as well as advocacy and planning models.
- Experience in developing and leading advocacy and public awareness campaigns.
- Working knowledge of legislation that directs and supports the delivery of Human Services programs including Early Years and Child Care, Ontario Works, etc.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered

- Demonstrated ability to and work proactively and creatively to anticipate impact, opportunities, and value.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate information to improve existing programs or to develop new approaches or processes as well as collect and analyze performance data and recommend methods to improve service performance.
- Political awareness, sufficient to identify and respond to situations using tact and diplomacy to understand the various parties and stakeholders involved in decision making processes, and to anticipate their likely reaction to statements, proposals, recommendations, and situations.
- Demonstrate leadership and participation skills, involving both government and community stakeholders.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, proven presentation skills including the ability to present to various audiences both internal and external to Peel.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

**Work Mode & Job Location**:In this role you will have the ability to work mostly remotely. You will be required to occasionally attend on-site meetings based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive Brampton, ON worksite.
