- The MaKami team is passionate about creating generational change through education, and we provide the tools and a safe environment for our staff to change the lives of our students and their families.The purpose of this position is to enhance the academic success of online students by supporting supervisors and management in developing effective learning strategies. The role involves collaborating with students to identify and overcome barriers to learning, providing them with the tools and resources needed to achieve their academic goals.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Plan and provide learning strategies specific to student learning needs and course materials.
- Work collaboratively with instructors, student services, and academic learning staff to provide support and to ensure effective implementation and tracking of learning plans.
- Screen students to determine suitability for short-term counselling and makes referrals to appropriate resources and services.
- Provide academic advising and learning skills programs appropriate for students learning needs.
- Assist in the development, modification and examination of the curriculum as it relates to student learning needs.
- Knowing and understanding the required skills for successful learning (i.e. taking strong notes, organizational skills, reading comprehension, time and study management, memory strategies) and teaching students these skills to help them navigate online programs
- Assisting students with developing healthy life skills (i.e. time management, organization, goal setting, financial management) to help succeed with their academic term
- Assisting students with overall wellness (i.e. stress management, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, motivation)

**Key Skills**
- Strong understanding of the academic process
- Strong understanding of successful learning principles (specially the ones associated with online learning)
- Basic knowledge of psychological concepts
- Effective communication skills
- Familiarity with MaKami’s online programs (BA, MOA, MI) is an asset

**Education & Training**
- Must hold a degree from accredited college/university, preferable in education or human/social services
- Preferred 1-2 years experience in educational or human/social services field
