**JOB OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Peer Support, the Specialist is part of a national team working to offer quality peer support programs. This position will work with their counterparts across Canada to coordinate the delivery of peer-based programming. Moderation of CCS’s online community, and program planning under the direction of the Senior Manager to grow the community and other peer support opportunities, are the core responsibilities. Depending on the level of activity in the online communities and availability of other peer support team members, and specifics related to growth opportunities, the proportionate balance of duties may vary.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
Online peer support community moderation
- Moderate English and French online communities, CancerConnection.ca or ParlonsCancer.ca, to support and engage individual members as needed to ensure a safe and supportive experience
- Contribute to content and engagement strategies and implement
- With leadership of Online Community Manager, engage site improvements that support the user experience
- Using site analytics and user feedback data, participate with the peer support team to monitor the program for quality improvement and risk management; assist in problem-solving program operational details as required

Peer support growth and development
- Liaise with staff of other CCS mission or business areas to plan, implement and evaluate growth opportunity for peer support in general and online communities in particular (e.g., private groups; webinars)
- Contribute program plans to funding proposals
- Implement and evaluate new peer support initiatives that are planned and funded
- Contribute to advancement of content, materials and delivery channels of training programs
- Support the Senior Manager in delivery of training programs

Outreach and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to and participate in team skill and knowledge development of peer support
- Support patient engagement and outreach plans
- Represent peer support in knowledge-sharing opportunities
- Respond to peer support program inquiries
- Support emerging organizational priorities as required
- Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race.

**EDUCATION &

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and 3-5 years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in peer support best practices and development, with a strong preference for experience in online communities
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer engagement, coaching and training
- Experience in a volunteer-based and charitable organization that serves the supportive care needs related to a serious health issue; this experience gained in an oncology setting is an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to, and knowledge of, peer-based program models and continuous improvement based on evidence and best practices
- Experience in program planning, budgeting and evaluation
- Public speaking or adult education experience are an asset
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise flexibility with oversight of program priorities
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Proficient in use of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Fully bilingual (fluent in both English & French - oral and written)
- Committed to non-judgemental, person-centered care recognizing the psychosocial impacts of cancer and the unique needs of people affected by cancer; sensitivity and receptivity to barriered groups based on unique psychosocial influences such as ethnicity, gender, socio-economic factors
- Ability to use sound judgment to maintain confidentiality and client safety
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
