Joining Sinopec Canada as a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor (Intermediate) means becoming an important part of our team dedicated to making our organization a safe workplace achieving our objectives in the oil and gas industry.

**About Our Team**

Sinopec Canada is currently looking for a Health and Safety Advisor (Intermediate) to join an impactful group of professionals responsible for our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) programs. This team is highly collaborative working closely with operations and other corporate departments. We support field operations with the HSE Management programs, Emergency response planning and maintaining our COR certification.

**Primary Purpose of Position**

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Environment, your primary role is to provide guidance, direction & support to the production and operations group, other functional groups regarding to HSE best practices, legislation, and other related inquiries. Travel to field will be required at times. This position will be based in Sinopec Canada’s Calgary, Alberta head office.

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**
- Conduct field-based worksite safety inspections/audits including HSE management systems and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Conduct detailed incident investigations identifying direct and indirect causes, identifying solutions for process safety, and overseeing all approved corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
- Create and implement a program to identify regulatory and industry trends within the Health, Safety & Environment.
- Communicate safety information and report back to involved employees and contractors. Ensure personnel have a solid understanding to conduct all operational activities in compliance with HSE and corporate policies.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance when required on process safety management and other HSE related matters.
- Contribute to the improvement of our HSE programs by reviewing and revising HSE policies and procedures on a continuous basis or as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management, Asset Integrity Management, Bowtie Analysis will be considered an asset.
- Proven track record of investigations, inspections, audits, and safety management systems.
- Exceptional knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Regulations.
- Excellent computer skills / MS office and strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence change in procedures and leading initiatives.
- Have the disposition and the ability to learn new skills. Must be adaptable to an ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, knowledge of BowTieXP and/or the enthusiasm to learn.
- Regular travel is expected within Alberta and a clean Class 5 license is necessary for this role. Applicants must be flexible with a willingness and the availability to work weekends and holidays as required.

**Qualifications**
- CRSP designation, NCSO or Occupational Health & Safety Certification is essential.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively evolving HSE experience in the production of oil and gas is required.
- Ideally a combination of 5 or more years of oilfield experience working in facilities and complimenting their process safety and/or health and safety foundational experience.
- Engineering experience or a background in engineering will be considered an asset.
