Under the authority of the Direction of Community Services, and supervised by the mental health program manager, the Mental health Educator play a central role in external services to adults in Nunavik who suffer from psychiatric illness, psychological disorders and/or intellectual disabilities.

The mental health educator will work with adults and will have to interact in different social issues and laws.

Person who works directly with service users to ensure their education and rehabilitation in accordance with the intervention programs established in collaboration with the existing team of professionals, to foster the rehabilitation of individuals and/or their reintegration into society. She/he applies education techniques involving activities of daily living in organizing, coordinating and conducting programmed activities aimed at helping these individuals learn and acquire appropriate attitudes and behaviors.

The person who, as a member of the team of interveners and in collaboration with internal and external partners, ensures individual and group support for adults with various problems (social skills deficit, intellectual deficiencies, etc.), or with difficulties of adaptation (behavioral disorder, attachment disorder, problems or mental health indices, etc.). She/he also provides services to the families of these individuals.

She/he observes and analyses the behavior of the service users, participates in assessing their needs and abilities and records their progress by writing up the appropriate reports. She/he is responsible for programming her/his own activities.

She/he contributes to the smooth functioning of the team and may be called upon to accompany trainees as well as new employees.

**Qualifications**
Be willing to travel within communities on the Hudson Bay Coast.
Work on different working shifts.
Diploma of college studies with specialization in special care counselling or institutional rehabilitation

**Essential skills and aptitudes**
Ø Have a good knowledge of the clinical process and the intervention protocols in force in the field of adult protection;
Ø Have theoretical knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Justice Act and the Health and Social Services Act (HSSSS):
Ø Communication skills in French and English (bilingual oral and written);
Ø Knowledge of Inuktitut would be an important asset;
Ø demonstrate strong team spirit;
Ø Strong sense of collaboration and communication skills ;
Ø Flexibility and excellent adaptability;
Ø Strong interest in working in a different cultural context and environment;
Ø Good ability to work under pressure and in an emergency context;
Ø Ability to solve complex problems in a context where resources are limited;
Ø Valid driver's license

**Conditions and benefits**
- Full-time permanent based in Puvirnituq and Inukjuak;
- Hourly rate according to MSSS salary scales between $24.78/h and $35.67/h;
- Day shift;
- 3 to 4 annual outings depending on status;

- Remote allowance $203.66/week without dependents or $358.99/week with dependents;
- Retention premium $114.99/week;
- Inukjuak Freight premium $98.08/week;
