Early Childhood External Educator- Family Room

To provide a safe and secure environment for children under Youth Protection services that meets their basic and specific needs;
- Plan and maintain an environment that ensures the health, safety and well-being of children;
- To develop, animate and direct children in a variety of activities (stories, art, culture, music, physical activity, etc.);
- Help children develop good habits regarding meals, hygiene, sleep, clothing, etc;
- Recording observations of children and discussing progress or difficulties with parents, family or DYP workers;
- Supervision of parent-child visits;
- Prepares and serves snacks/meals/bottles;
- Prepares the room and monitors/assists children during naps;
- Acts as a mentor with the educator assistants;
- Performs housekeeping duties in the family room.
**Qualifications**
Have a college degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., early childhood, social work, special education, delinquency intervention, etc.);
In the absence of a college degree, have significant experience with children (e.g. babysitting);
Have theoretical and practical knowledge of the Youth Protection Act and the concept of protection;
**Essential skills and aptitudes**
- Fluent in English, written and spoken, Inuktitut is an asset;
- Highly adaptable and culturally sensitive;
- Good leadership skills and ability to mobilize;
- Be able to work under pressure, in emergency and crisis situations;Show due respect for the confidentiality of files
**Conditions and benefits**
Hourly rate according to MSSS salary scales between $24.78/h and $35.67/h;
Day shift; Premium cargo $115.64/week;
Remoteness premium $203.66/week without dependent or $358.99/week with dependent;
Retention premium $114.99/week;
Furnished accommodation provided;
Moving and storage costs reimbursed by the centre;
3 to 4 annual outings depending on status;
Up to 16 weeks of leave per year.
**Professionals who are currently in the health and social services network can request a Nordic leave without pay (up to 48 months) from their institution to work in Nunavik**
