Through Indspire’s education offerings, we provide resources to students, educators, communities, and other stakeholders who are committed to improving success for Indigenous youth. In 2019-20, Indspire awarded over $17.8 million through more than 5,124 bursaries and scholarships to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis youth, making it the largest funder of Indigenous post-secondary education outside the federal government. Each year, the organization presents the Indspire Awards, a celebration of the successes achieved by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people that is broadcast nationally.

We are currently hiring an **Indigenous & Government Relations Specialist **to join our Indigenous & Government Relations department. Reporting to the VP, Indigenous & Government Relations. The Indigenous & Government Relations Specialist will provide operational support and advice to the Vice President. They will understand and anticipate the responsibilities, needs, and priorities of the Indigenous & Government Relations function VP.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Providing operational support and advising on Indigenous and Government Relations initiatives.
- Identifying and researching potential public sector partnership opportunities in support of Indspire priorities.
- Identifying, researching, and drafting proposals for government and public sector funding opportunities.
- Gathering required information from Programs and Student Success, Development, Communications and Marketing, and Finance teams to complete public sector reports.
- Preparing responses to government and stakeholder inquiries.
- Preparing briefing notes and profiles and anticipate the needs of the VP.
- Preparing, monitoring and reconciling VP Visa and expenses.
- Providing support and logístical assistance at Indspire events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a college diploma in business administration or equivalent
- Progressive experience, usually demonstrated through at least 5 years in administration or program management in the public or charitable sector.
- Knowledge of the issues affecting Indigenous peoples and experience in Indigenous communities strongly preferred.
- Fundamental business skills and knowledge of administrative procedures.
- Ability to perform internet research.
- Experience with proposal writing and report drafting.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and provide administrative support.
- Proven organizational skills to ensure issues are managed within specified timeframes.
- Ability to exercise discretion, judgement and demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
- Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.
- Able to prioritize and deal with multiple projects and fluctuating deadlines
- Proven skills with a variety of software packages; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and be comfortable working with databases.
- Ability to work with sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
- Occasional travel to Six Nations and Toronto offices, and to Indspire events across Canada may be required.
