**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management (HIM), the HIM Strategist is an integral member of a regional multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for leading and facilitating key HIM initiatives from development to implementation and operationalization. These activities include working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve various business processes related to HIM core operations. The Strategist works in collaboration with Leaders, Service and Program Managers and Directors, physicians, and staff across Island Health care sectors and other health authorities to lead and promote the transformation of complex, enterprise wide health information systems change and the overall translation of health data and information across the continuum of care. The HIM Strategist is also responsible for supporting strategic deployment initiatives and provides leadership and guidance to leadership teams regarding the identification, prioritization, and implementation of process improvement opportunities. The HIM Strategist works to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of all initiatives that assist in the successful transitioning to a fully integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) throughout Island Health programs and services.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a related health discipline such as Health Information Science, Health Administration, or patient care/clinical related specialty and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a health care environment.

Relevant experience includes project management and business analysis experience, facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups and knowledge of applicable legislation, in particular the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Experience in implementation of Health Information Systems (Electronic Health Records) is an asset. Experience in the use of Lean continuous improvement, Lean management, or Lean Six Sigma and/or PMP certification is an asset.

- Broad knowledge of health care delivery systems in primary, acute, ambulatory, residential and community settings
- Demonstrated ability to support organization and/or departmental change management policies and procedures
- Effective facilitation and negotiation skills to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes
- Demonstrated experience with large scale organizational change efforts
- Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize work and set priorities
- Demonstrated knowledge of the health care system
- Strong computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
