Information Systems Coordinator

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager of Health Services Information, this position is responsible for the testing, maintenance and implementation of the computer systems in the Clinical Information Services area. This position is responsible for the ongoing liaison with Clinical Information staff, Information Systems, software vendors and user departments with respect to computer system development and maintenance.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Graduate of an approved Health Information Management Professional program. Certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management Health Records Administrators at the Certificant Level (CHIM). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
Three to five years experience working with discharge data and related computerized health records/health information systems.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships and communications with all levels of regional staff.
- Ability to merge knowledge of Health Records and Information Management in a clinical setting with Information Technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to ensure project deadlines are met.
