**Position**:National Key Account Manager
**Job Type: Full Time**
**Schedule**:Monday-Friday
**Working Conditions**:Due to COVID-19, the position is work from home.
**PURPOSE**:
Responsible for overseeing the development of sales and revenue producing contracts for products and services with both existing and new clients nationally for their respective channel. Directs all aspects of sales and the business development cycle. Identifies and pursues sales opportunities, makes product presentations, prospects new business relationships, and obtains sales contracts. Projects and maintains the Company’s professional image. Keeps Senior Management aware of area activities and significant problems.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for the promotional planning, development, and implementation of effective sales strategies and policies specific to their customer business team to ensure incremental growth and margin % is achieved.
- Researches and analyzes environmental and competitive conditions, customer needs, and market trends. Designs strategies to capitalize on business development opportunities.
- Ensures sales activities are cost effective, efficient, and within established budget constraints.
- Ensures plans, goals, and policies are consistent with Company-wide goals.
- Responsible for effectively developing new revenue opportunities with key Company clients.
- Maintains in depth knowledge of retailer operations, systems, products, and needs; leverages current retailer relationships to further expand business development opportunities
- Maintains a current knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, channels, products, and competitors to support the identification of business development opportunities.
- Identifies and prospects new category relationships via cold calling, networking, and professional contacts.
- Ensures customers are provided full advocacy and support through all stages of the business relationship.
- Responsible for working closely with demand planners, category managers, directors (internally and externally) in order to meet retailer and UNFI fill rate expectations.
- Forecast, track, and manage topline sales and margin profitably for UNFI and the retailer, by period and quarter.
- Work with Supplier Relationship Managers and suppliers to obtain appropriate cost increase documentation and present and negotiate with the retailer, within the appropriate time parameters, to the increases accepted and executed.
- Performs other job duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Certification**:
- Post-Secondary Education in Business, Marketing, Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
**Experience**:
- Five (5) years or more of National Key Account Management/Sales experience, preferably in the Natural/Organic Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
- System Implementation preferred
**Knowledge**:
- Knowledge of retail and direct distribution channels and promotions strategies.
- In depth understanding of the business environment and natural/organic products.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office required; particularly Excel and Powerpoint
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent presentation and writing abilities.
- Able to organize and coordinate projects.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Works well on a team.
