**Permanent Full Time Manager, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness**

Seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellness. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this position provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and maintenance of innovative and effective programs to support a best-in-class safe and healthy work environment for our Hospital Community. By ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, we in turn can deliver the best care and the best patient experience possible.

The Manager leads an interdisciplinary team of nursing, human resources, and safety professionals to promote a safety and wellness culture.

**Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to**:

- Development and maintenance of policies and protocols for Occupational Health, including medical directives, pre-placement health reviews, assessment and treatment of illness/injuries, communicable disease surveillance protocols, immunization programs including the annual influenza program.
- Tracking, reporting, and auditing of Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellness performance indicators with a focus on leading change and best practices.
- Management of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims and accident investigation protocols, including NEER and account management.
- Active participation and leadership on the hospital’s occupational health and safety committees.
- Efficient and effective management of the human, fiscal and other hospital resources within the department.
- Completion of a Registered Nursing diploma/degree with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) along with a professional certification in a discipline such as Occupational Health Nursing. Acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years managerial experience in Occupational Health and Safety environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act, Health Protection and Promotion Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, OHA/OMA Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols, and WHMIS Regulations
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety management system standards such as CSA Z1000
- Highly developed presentation, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage stakeholders regarding concerns relating to staff health and safety
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on:

- Consulting, collaboration and customer service
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to respond effectively to competing, challenging, and changing priorities
- Excellent judgment, tact and diplomacy including problem solving and critical thinking skills to respond effectively in challenging situations.
- Strong report writing and computer skills, including proficiency with Parklane Software or similar.
- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors in order to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in our organization.

Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a requirement

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique health care organization with three primary roles: providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it’s the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario.
