Position Summary
We are currently recruiting a Master Scheduler to join our Operations team. This role can be based in either Calgary, AB or Victoria, BC.
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the production schedule to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products. This role requires close collaboration with various departments including production, procurement, and sales, to balance supply and demand effectively. The Master Scheduler will utilize advanced planning and scheduling software to optimize production processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the master production schedule to ensure on-time delivery of products.
- Coordinate with production managers and supervisors to align the schedule with production capacity and capabilities.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, supply chain disruptions, and other variables.
- Analyze production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks or constraints.
- Work with the production team to develop strategies for optimizing capacity and improving throughput.
- Implement tools and processes for capacity planning and load leveling.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory control teams to ensure materials and components are available as needed.
- Develop and implement inventory policies and procedures to minimize excess stock and reduce carrying costs.
- Monitor inventory levels and adjust the production schedule to maintain optimal inventory balance.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand demand forecasts and translate them into production plans.
- Analyze historical data and market trends to improve the accuracy of demand forecasts.
- Adjust production plans based on changes in customer demand and market conditions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all scheduling-related inquiries and issues.
- Facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders to review and update the production schedule.
- Communicate schedule changes and updates to all relevant departments in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in scheduling and production planning.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a master scheduler, production planner, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in advanced planning and scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

- Results oriented and a team player comfortable working with all aspects of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Good with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable dealing with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to work in a highly technical environment.
- Must have and maintain the ability to legally work in Canada.
- Office environment with occasional visits to the production floor.
- Some travel may be required to meet with suppliers or other company locations.
