As one of Calgary’s newest BIAs, we’re aiming to harness the passion and diversity of area residents and businesses to re-imagine Crescent Heights Village as a pedestrian-friendly, accessible destination neighbourhood where everyone belongs to gather, shop, eat, live, work and play.

We’re looking for a smart, entrepreneurial, energetic and well-rounded person to help execute our communications member engagement strategies. You will be a great fit if you love people, have strong communications skills, love to answer questions, have attention to detail and lots of energy.

**Duties**

The Communications and Member Engagement Officer is responsible for initiating and maintaining communications and relationships with and about our community of nearly 400 businesses in the Crescent Heights Village Business Improvement Area. This entails:

- Ensuring the BIA has current and accurate contact information for each of the businesses in the BIA.
- In-person outreach (door knocking) to provide information about the BIA as well as opportunities to participate in events and programs
- Fielding phone calls and inquiries from member businesses and, occasionally, other stakeholders
- Supporting the Executive Director and Marketing Specialist with their communications and engagement activities
- Creating content about local businesses for our website and social media (photos, reels, stories, etc.)
- Supporting businesses in their participation in events, gift card programs and other benefits programs.
- Reporting any issues, concerns, news and notes from and about businesses to the Executive Director.
- Providing event, administrative and general support to the Executive Director as required.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- 1-3 years in a customer service role
- Experience in content creation/social media
- Experience in member relations, communications, administration and data management an asset
- Post-secondary education in communications a strong asset
- Experience with Google Business Suite, Hubspot, Mailchimp and Elementor a strong asset
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Friendly, outgoing and confident demeanor
- Comfortable initiating conversations with new people
- Ability to speak Cantonese an asset
- The ability to regularly walk/wheel within a 2km radius in all sorts of weather conditions

**About the Job**
- The Communications and Member Engagement Officer splits their time between the office on Centre St. North, walking/wheeling around the neighbourood visiting businesses on Centre Street, 16th Avenue and Edmonton Trail and working from home on data management and other non-site-specific duties. We expect the role to allow 1-2 days working from home per week - depending on weather, events, communications and other duties that may require an on-site presence.
- The position requires 35 hours per week, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with an hour for lunch. Some evenings, weekends and mornings will be required and time in lieu will be offered for any hours worked over and above 35 in a week. This schedule has flexibility.
- The employer provides an in-office work station/desk, laptop computer with desktop docking station, a tablet for mobile work and telecommunications and other equipment and materials required to effectively do the job.

**Compensation**
- The position starts at $36,400 per annum
- After a 90-day probationary period, the employee will be enrolled in a robust benefits plan that is 50% employer paid.
- After six months, the employee will be entitled to two-weeks paid vacation.
