**Communications Specialist (12-month term position)**

Established in 1939, the Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS) provides pension and retirement services to its membership. CSS is the administrator of the CSS Pension Plan - one of Canada’s oldest and largest defined contribution (DC) pension plans. With approximately $5B in assets, CSS Pension Plan has grown to serve over 300 employers and 55,000 current and past co-operative and credit union employees across Canada.

**Summary**

Reporting to the Manager, Brand and Digital Engagement, the Communications Specialist will play a key role to support the planning and execution of branding, communications and digital engagement strategies to meet the needs of CSS members, employers and other stakeholders. This position provides coverage for the current incumbent’s leave of absence until October 2024.

**Responsibilities**

In this challenging and exciting position, you will use your superior writing, design, organizational and interpersonal skills to transform complex information into engaging communications. You will help evolve the overall member experience provided by CSS, growing the Plan’s digital communication initiatives along with developing print-based information materials.

You are a proactive self-starter, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and have a flair for creating top-notch content for social media, video, e-communications, websites, and publications, including interactive annual reports and magazines. You will support the Manager, Brand and Digital Engagement in telling CSS’ story in an impactful way, creating brand awareness and engagement across multiple, diverse audiences.

Using data and other measurement tools, you are skilled at reporting the outcomes of digital communication efforts and making recommendations for improvements to CSS’ organizational strategies, while also providing support to help execute.

**Qualifications**
- A degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations.
- A strong communicator with three to five years’ recent, related experience.
- Experience working in a pension or finance environment would be an asset.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience preparing quality communication materials including:

- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
- The ability to communicate complex information to non-experts
- Demonstrated experience with digital communication technologies (MailChimp, Hootsuite, Survey Monkey)
- Demonstrated experience with webinar hosting software (Microsoft Teams and Zoom)
- Proven knowledge of HubSpot, SharePoint or other content management systems
- Demonstrated experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Proficiency in digital and print-based graphic design and prototyping platforms (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma)
- Experience with social media platforms (LinkedIn and Twitter)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- Experience in the use of analytics software, surveys and other measurement tools (Siteimprove, Google Analytics and Survey Monkey)
- Strong content planning skills for both print and digital media
- Demonstrated experience in assessing stakeholders’ communication needs
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in both a remote and traditional office environment
