**MISSION / SUMMARY**:The Quality Technician administers quality standards for paperboard products, and related raw materials, during sheeting, printing, cutting, folding, gluing and packaging processes to ensure adherence to quality standards. They understand and align business operations and the Quality Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives. The Quality Assurance Technician is in charge of coordinating the day-to-day activities in the Quality Assurance Department. They are in control of the quality systems, conduct monthly statistical analysis and reporting, and work with the Quality Assurance employees to develop proactive procedures that will improve our quality system. The Quality Assurance Technician is also responsible for the overall efficiencies of customer complaint resolutions and follow up on internal non-conformances. They take the lead role in quality system audits, the coordination of sorting activities, resolution of supplier non-conformances.

**JOB FUNCTIONS**:_Job functions include, but are not limited to the following_._
- Performs and monitors quality checks in all departments to ensure defects do not occur.
- Train on how to identify and prevent product defects
- Train on quality checks and quality testing.
- Performs daily testing for customer products, as required (score bends, opening force, ink rubs, stiffness, COF, caliper checks, etc.;)
- Performs internal calibration of testing equipment as required.
- Generates COA/COC for Customers.
- Reviews and approves supplier CoA’s for critical raw materials.
- Participates in determining and managing substandard product and raw materials (paperboard) determining what can/should be sold, sorted/reworked or scrapped
- Oversees sort activities (establish sort standards, mentor and monitor hourly sort employees, AS400 (Excel) entries, and housekeeping)
- Performs customer and internal sampling requirements along with sample room organization & maintenance
- Help manage Color Chart system.
- Maintains quality related documents and SOPs
- Performs quality related audits (machine/CTQ audits, food safety audits, TQM audits, as per audit schedules)
- Gathers data as requested for projects/troubleshooting, etc.
- Participates in safety and quality behavior-based observations.
- Helps ensure plant’s compliance to 3rd party Functional Control / Pre-Requisite program requirements including: HACCP, SQF, and other customer-mandated programs.
- Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
- Other duties as assigned

**BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS**:

- Minimum 3-5 years in quality or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in supervision would be preferred
- Able to work alternate shifts as business needs
- Excellent problem solving skills and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control theories
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Can work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
- Proficient at using computers including MS Office
- SAP experience would be an asset
- Able to work independently and within a team environment
