**Position Information**:
The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a dynamic healthcare leader to join its team in an exciting opportunity to serve as the Manager, Protective Services. Reporting to the Director, Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario, Operations Command Center and Security, this position is responsible and accountable for managing and administering the overall operation of all Security operations at our many sites in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The Manager will provide the Hospital with innovative and forward thinking solutions for the security of our staff, patients, and their loved ones that will be part of achieving organization-wide strategies surrounding safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

The Manager will also be integral to upholding the vision of the Hospital, to provide each patient with the world-class care, exceptional service and compassion that we would want for our loved ones.

**What you will bring**:

- University degree in a field related to Security, Criminology or Criminal Law (a combination of education and experience may also be considered);
- Membership and CHPA certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, or a similar body;
- Five (5) years of experience working in progressively responsible positions within security and management fields (in Healthcare or Police Services);
- Three (3) years of experience in leadership and management roles within a large, highly unionized environment with high levels of public contact;
- Extensive knowledge of the Private Security and Investigative Services Act 2005 and other applicable acts, regulations, and standards;
- Knowledge and awareness of principles and issues related to the delivery of Security solutions in a large organization;
- Demonstrated experience with violence prevention and response;
- Experience with security related investigations and hazard and vulnerability assessments;
- Advanced knowledge of software and hardware used to support facility safety and security;
- Demonstrated ability to respond to a large number of simultaneous and competing demands;
- Experience working in a result-oriented environment, requiring a high degree of flexibility whilst retaining business disciplines;
- Experience working in a unionized environment;
- Skilled at engaging and inspiring others toward a common vision;
- Ability to lead with focus, including strong planning, prioritizing and project management skills;
- Skilled at assessing performance and identifying performance improvement opportunities;
- Ability to successfully lead others through change;
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to engage stakeholders throughout the organization and the community for concerns relating to Security within the organization;
- Strong team player with proven accomplishments in developing and leading high performance teams;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

**You will stand out with**:

- Working knowledge of the Incident Management System for emergency preparedness;
- Fluently bilingual in both official languages;
- Current or past licensure as an Ontario Security Guard;
- Experience managing security teams within a health care environment;
- Experience leading change within a large multi-faceted organization.
