**About the Role**:
The Financial Analyst role involves high level financial tasks and responsibilities that are both repetitive/routine and/or non-routine specialized tasks. The tasks require a high degree of focus, attention to detail, analysis and problem solving. An accounting degree or diploma is required or alternatively significant relevant experience. This role has a moderate to high level of independent decision-making authority within established processes and procedures and pre-set generally accepted accounting principles.

**What you will be doing**:
Reporting to the Manager of Analytics, the Finance Analyst’s responsibilities will include:

- Providing sound advice, guidance, and analytical service regarding the preparation of the budget, corporate variance reporting and related financial issues
- Reconciling Accounts Receivable payments received to funding agreements for 250+ projects
- Providing reconciliation support on corporate credit card accounts
- Maintaining contribution agreement repository and listing and aiding in the development of new tracking tools
- Assisting in the completion of month end, quarter end and year end closing procedures
- Assist the team in the preparation of the annual audit, including preparation of requested documentation and assist with audit inquiries from various government departments and agencies
- Contribute to the review and improvement of internal processes
- Provide support in responding to internal information requests at all levels of management
- Providing backup support for other team members’
- Other duties as may be assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
- Post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. Accounting Practices)
- High degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment (with preferred expertise in Microsoft Excel, Great Plains and NetSuite or equivalent accounting system)
- Superior organization skills and time/priority-management
- Highly detail-oriented
- Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- 2-3 years related experience
- Demonstrated experience dealing with confidential information

**Preferred**:

- Knowledge of DataBasics (or similar software)
- Previous experience in a project accounting based role
- Knowledge of VBA/Python/SQL or desire to learn (would be considered an asset)
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets (would be considered an asset)
- Experience with VBA/Python/SQL or desire to learn (would be considered an asset)
