The **Active Living** in the **Faculty of Kinesiology **is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time **Minds in Motion Assistant Coordinator**.

The Minds in Motion programs provide STEM programming to over 6,000 participants year-round, generating annual revenue of over $500,000 per year for Active Living programs. Coordinating the Minds in Motion Programs requires discretionary decision making about programs, staff supervision, resource allocation and resolution of customer complaints. The Assistant Coordinator works closely with the full-time Minds in Motion Coordinator to plan and execute decisions. Additional support to the University of Calgary Active Living department may be required during slower times in the Youth Programs or at peak times in other programs. This includes instructing, leading and coordinating other programs.

This position reports to the full-time Minds in Motion Program Coordinator.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Responsible for developing, planning, delivering, and evaluating approximately 200+ scheduled on campus youth programs in collaboration with the full-time Coordinator
- Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of in school workshops and outreach activities, with the support of the full-time Coordinator
- The position requires the scheduling and coordination of a team of young instructors and leaders who need regular coaching and mentoring
- Assist under direction from the Minds in Motion Program Coordinator in the hiring, training, and supervision of more than 70 seasonal staff
- Participate in the University of Calgary Summer Camps team when possible (meeting of coordinators and managers of all summer camps on campus)
- Develop and update resources for staff and programs
- Book equipment, vehicles, and facilities for programs
- Provide administrative support to the Minds in Motion Programs
- Maintain the program's equipment and resources
- Provide daily support for staff and campers throughout the summer and for off season programs
- Assisting with the day-to-day tasks of camp that arise. This includes but not limited to: staff support, running meetings, evaluating camps and staff, monitoring sign-in/sign-out, and conflict resolution
- Increase the sustainability of programming by critically reviewing the current programming and creating activities where sustainable supplies can be used
- Maintaining leader to camper ratios by occasionally replacing absent staff

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Enrolled in or completion of Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Education, Engineering, Science, or other applicable education is an asset. Completion of Grade 12 education is required
- Significant knowledge in the operations and running of the University of Calgary Youth Programs is required
- Knowledge of the University's core business systems, especially CSIS and PeopleSoft, is essential
- Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills (English fluency is required)
- Experience in the area of program planning, education, and leadership for children and youth is required
- Standard First Aid + CPR is required
- Valid Police Security Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search is required
- Strong administrative and organizational skills are required
- Strong work ethic applied to all duties is required
- A valid Class 5 driver¿s license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required) in order to facilitate program delivery
