Reporting to the Leisure Programs Manager, or designate, responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating educational programs at the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centres.

**Responsibilities**:

- Duties include leading in the planning, coordinating and administering of the educational programs by identifying needs, determining resources, scheduling, requesting permits and calculating costs of education courses
- Hiring, interviewing, selecting, orienting and scheduling contract instructors in consultation with the Leisure Programs Manager and supporting volunteer instructors
- Providing program administration by analyzing and monitoring registration statistics of courses, assisting in preparing budget information for the development of the education programs budget, creating new program lines in registration software, and negotiating and determining quarterly facility bookings
- Reviewing brochure downloads and activity guide drafts and making edits for the OSCC Activity Guide, preparing promotional and advertising materials for social media platforms and OSCC branches, and developing flyers and various promotional material for educational programs
- Ensuring program set up & take down for courses
- Supporting the Partners at Work Program including delegating tasks and supervising volunteers and placement students
- Performing other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated knowledge and skills normally associated with the completion of a 2 year Community College Program (Recreation & Leisure Studies, Gerontology, Social/Human Services) plus two years of relevant experience in programming and working with the older adults; or an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience
- A demonstrated interest in working with older adults and possess personal qualities of maturity, tact and patience and the ability to manage many programs at once that have different needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and staff and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Hold current First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates or be willing to undertake such programs
- Must be able to provide own transportation for travel between facilities as required
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
