The Video Evidence Technician is responsible for the collection, preservation, management and destruction of video exhibits produced from the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) video surveillance platforms (CCTV, bus camera system & light rail camera system).

- Receive, evaluate and process requests for the production and disclosure of video exhibits for a variety of clients including but not limited to Police, ETS personnel, Office of the City Clerk (FOIP) and other City of Edmonton (CoE) departments
- Manipulate the peripheral hardware of the surveillance system to locate, collect, preserve and protect incident video recordings in compliance with Video Services Unit record management and administrative procedures
- Update and develop Video Services Unit operational and administrative processes and procedures in accordance with CoE record management policies and FOIP regulations
- Develop and deliver Videos Services Unit presentations and training to a variety of audiences including police, ETS personnel and other CoE departments as needed
- Undertake and maintain ongoing research related to case law involving rules of evidence and privacy decisions
- Record and track all released, archived and destroyed video evidence in accordance with retention and destruction procedures
- Release video exhibits as evidence to Law Branch for court proceedings related to Community Standard Transit Peace Officer bylaw investigations
- Provide suspect photos to Community Standards Transit Peace Officers to be on the lookout for, for officer safety and bylaw investigations
- Complete witness statements in relation to custody and release of video evidence as required
- Backfill the Operations Support Administrative Clerk position due to vacation, sick leave or training
- Attend court as a witness to validate video recording exhibits
- Other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a 2 year diploma in Law Enforcement, Security, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline
- Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA) Technician Certification or Certified Property and Evidence Specialist Designation will be considered an asset
- A minimum of 1 year of security or law enforcement experience, or extensive administrative experience working in the security industry. A combination of experience in the security industry (i.e. Security Guard, Peace Officer, Police) will be considered
- Experience in video processing in a law enforcement or security setting using sophisticated devices and software is an asset
- Experience in video record management in accordance with FOIP is an asset
- Working knowledge of legal terminology, documents and process associated with the administration of Court-related property, such as case law involving rules of evidence and privacy regulations
- Experience in providing evidence in court
- Ability to operate computer terminals, warehousing and office equipment and photography equipment
- Working knowledge of CCTV security camera systems, FOIP, Federal Privacy Legislation, Criminal Code of Canada, Canada Evidence Act, and Peace Officer Act
- The ability to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent written, administration and communications skills
- Ability to anticipate challenges and prioritize urgent issues
- Ability to build strong, professional relationships with clients, coworkers and contacts
- Proficiency in the use of Google Workspace (Gmail, Chat, Calendar Currents, Drive, Docs, Sheets,Slides, Keep, Forms and Sites)
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement

**_ Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement_**

**Hours of Work**:40 hours per week

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

**Salary**: $26.580 - $33.357 (Hourly) $55,499.040 - $69,649.42
