**Unit/Project Description**:
A Recruitment, Outreach, and Alumni Coordinator is required for the Arts & Science Program at McMaster University. The Arts & Science Program is a unique, limited enrolment, interdisciplinary undergraduate program, which is designed to engage students in a culture of learning and foster in them the growth of a broad-based, interdisciplinary perspective; strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills; and the capacity to engage in meaningful inquiry into issues of social concern. Reporting to the Director of Arts & Science, the Recruitment, Outreach, and Alumni Coordinator will work cooperatively as part of the Arts & Science administrative team and engage with current and prospective students, alumni, high school staff, and a wide range of faculty and staff at McMaster. The person taking up this position must be an excellent communicator, a creative and critical thinker, and a strong team player, with the capacity to engage a wide variety of audiences in learning about and connecting with this distinctive program. Due to the nature of the position, some evening and weekend work, as well as some travel will be required.

**Job Summary**:
Responsible for the development and administration of programming and activities that contribute to outreach and engagement of potential students and Program alumni. Develop and deliver materials and coordinate events and other programming to help attract applicants. Maintain and enhance opportunities for Program alumni to continue and grow meaningful relationships with the Program, and connects these opportunities to recruitment efforts and Program objectives.

**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Develop, implement, and coordinate a plan for annual Program recruitment activities, with a particular eye to diversifying the Program’s applicant pool and contributing to equity in recruitment and admissions processes.
- Evaluate current and new recruitment and admissions strategies to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the Program Director and others to develop, coordinate, and refine strategies and initiatives designed to enhance access to the Program.
- Develop and deliver presentations to potential applicants, families, and guidance counsellors.
- Document and provide feedback to the Program Director regarding the target audience’s perception of the Program.
- Meet with and respond to inquiries from prospective students.
- Attend and represent the Program at recruitment events.
- Travel provincially to visit high schools and complete student recruitment activities.
- Design and develop learning and training materials for temporary recruitment staff/volunteers.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to temporary recruitment staff/volunteers.
- Develop conceptual plans and budgets for projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee events involving applicants, alumni, students, community members, faculty, and staff.
- Assess existing strategies and opportunities for engaging Program alumni, and suggest potential areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement strategies for engaging Program alumni in ways that support the ongoing vitality of the Program community of learning and contribute to Program objectives.
- Update and maintain a comprehensive alumni database.
- Coordinate all activities as appropriate with other Program and University staff. Liaise regularly with the Communications Coordinator and Program Director to ensure recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement activities are well-integrated into and supported by the communications plan.

**Supervision**:

- Ongoing responsibility for supervising up to 5 casual employees at any one time.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures for short-term staff and volunteers.
- Provide orientation and show procedures to others.
