For over twenty years, Laing House has been proudly creating communities centering on peer support, mutual encouragement, hope and recovery guidance.

**Operations & Program Development**
- Contributes to the ongoing development of our Laing House Practice Framework, Privacy Policies and accessibility goals
- Works with the Executive Director to manage operational and budgetary responsibilities
- Plans, evaluates and improves the efficiency of business processes and procedures
- Actively engages in the ongoing planning, implementation, and analysis of existing programs and the development of new programming based on member needs and input (including online programming)
- Maintains current knowledge of best practices and approaches related to mental health promotion, resiliency and recovery
**People Management**
As Manager, you will support up to 12 staff, students, and volunteers. You will be responsible for:
- Planning staffing levels (including overseeing the recruitment and selection of new team members, volunteers and student placements)
- Providing oversight and direction to employees in accordance with Laing House policies and procedures and our NSGEU Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff
**Outreach & Partnership Development**
- Oversee processes to support the recruitment and welcoming of new Laing House members
- Actively build relationships with key stakeholder groups (members, community partners, health care professionals, volunteers, academia, etc.)
- Develop clinician and partner engagement activities
- A degree in Social Work (BSW, MSW), Occupational Therapy, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
- A minimum of two years of people management experience (as a supervisor or manager)
- Three to five years direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector
- Formal training and experience related to crisis intervention and approaches to trauma
- informed care
- Understanding of youth mental health and knowledge of available resources and supports in Nova Scotia
- Experience in program design, implementation and evaluation (including online programming)
- Experience designing effective partnership and outreach strategies with diverse stakeholders
- Familiarity with budget design and budget management
- An understanding of peer support models
- An enthusiastic interest in food-based programming and activities
- An awareness of barriers to food security in Nova Scotia
- Familiarity with Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Framework
**Things to know before applying**:
- **Hours and Scheduling**: Typical hours will be scheduled Monday to Friday between 12pm and 8pm plus occasional Saturday responsibilities to support our popular weekend programming. All Laing Managers are also expected to adopt a flexible schedule when needed to support special events, partner engagements, or situations that require urgent focus/attention.
- **Remote Work Requests**: We support _occasional_ remote work requests for Laing Managers but the nature of this position is people-facing and there will be a requirement to be onsite on a regular basis.
- **Food Programming**: Food is an important part of our service model. We offer food-based programming, design food-skills workshops and are committed to ensuring our Laing members, staff, students and volunteers have reliable access to food when visiting our space. Formal food training is not required but maintaining an enthusiastic and creative approach to normalizing access to food will be expected.
