Contract Administrator

ALFA Engineering Ltd. is a well-established, Regina-based Consulting Electrical Engineering firm. Our work consists of providing prime and sub consulting services for a large variety of commercial, institutional, municipal, recreational, and light industrial construction projects. Most of our projects are located within the Province of Saskatchewan, but we are also authorized to provide consulting services in the provinces of Alberta and Manitoba.
We are currently seeking to add an Intermediate or Senior Construction Contract Administrator to our team. As the primary ALFA Engineering contact during the construction and warranty periods, your duties will include:
- Carrying out construction contract administration functions in both the sub-consultant and prime consultant roles
- Reviewing contractor supplied shop drawings for conformance with design specifications and performance criteria.
- Conducting site reviews to ensure compliance with contract documents and compiling and issuing site review reports.
- Interpreting construction contract documentation to provide direction to contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Working with other design and construction team members to resolve issues arising during construction.
- Preparing construction phase documentation in the form of price requests, site instructions and request for information (RFI) responses,
- Reviewing contractor progress claims and making recommendations for payment based on progress observed on site.
- Maintaining construction contract administration records and logs
- Chairing construction meetings and preparing meeting minutes when acting in prime consultant role and
- Providing feedback and making recommendations to design staff regarding changes to methods, materials and design philosophy.
Your qualifications include:
- an Electrical Journeymen Certification from an Accredited Technical Institute recognized by Saskatchewan Polytechnic OR
- a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an Accredited Technical institute recognized by Saskatchewan Polytechnic OR
- a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accredited Electrical Engineering Program recognized by the University of Saskatchewan
- related construction project experience.
- knowledge of applicable codes and standards (National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, National Energy Code for Buildings, various NFPA and CAN/ULC standards)
- familiarity with contract administration and project management software and platforms (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Rform, Bluebeam) would be an asset.
We are seeking individuals who:
- Are self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Are well organized, can manage their time in an efficient and effective manner with the ability to prioritize tasks to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Have experience in managing electrical construction as a contract administrator or project manager.
- Possess strong problem solving skills and enjoy working with a diverse group of design, construction and administrative professionals interested in the ”team” approach to design and construction.
**Salary**: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
