**Summary**:
Native Child and Family Services of Toronto strives to provide a life of quality, well-being, caring and healing for our children and families in the Toronto Indigenous Community. We do this by creating a service model that is culture-based and respects the values of Indigenous people, the extended family, and the right to self-determination and through the integration of holistic, culturally based prevention services that are child centred, family focused, and community driven. This position is critical in the development of Native Child’s supports for First Nations, Métis Communities and Inuit Communities in exercising their inherent jurisdiction for their children.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to the Director of Child and Family Wellbeing the All Our Relations Worker will:_
- Establish and develop active working relationships and negotiations with Bands and territories.
- Develop capacity with Bands and larger Aboriginal communities regarding the Child Welfare system including, standards, regulations and legislation, and the impact of these upon children and families.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engagements with First Nation, Métis, Inuit, and Urban Aboriginal Partners.
- Develop and negotiate protocols with Indigenous communities with respect to **_An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families_** (Bill C92) including Band Council Resolutions, Customary Care Agreements, and overall Permanency Planning for children.
- Work with mainstream Children’s Aid Societies to develop understandings and potential written protocols regarding ongoing interactions between agencies.
- Develop mutual beneficial relationships between NCFST and respective Bands promoting the best interest of our Indigenous children and families.
- Develops internal staff capacity regarding all Band relationships and protocols.
- All Work is to be carried out in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, **_An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families (_**Bill C92) and NCFST policies and procedures.
- Supervise staff as this portfolio increases in scope

**Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills**:

- Indigenous lived experience required, representation of understanding of Indigenous culture, history
- Understand the unique dynamics that exist within the First Nation, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
- Knowledge of the history of child welfare as it pertains to the Aboriginal community (awareness of the Indigenous experiences and Colonization).
- Ability to establish relationships between urban Indigenous organizations and Bands.
- Education or lived experience in the area(s) of law and/or social work with a focus on indigenous/social justice issues are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge and understanding of legal processes related to child wellbeing /child protection and **_An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families_** (Bill C92) including notices of intention to exercise legislative authority and co-ordination agreements.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems, make quick decisions, and respond to critical incidences within rigid time constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills; ability to multitask and prioritize; initiative and respect for confidentiality.
- Enthusiasm and a dynamic personality will contribute to your ability to perform the job successfully.
- Please note that this position requires extensive travel by air, vehicle, etc.
- Ability to provide a police record check (Vulnerable Sector).
- A valid Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required for this position.
