MacEwan University seeks an experienced individual for a full-time continuing Supervisor, Conference and Event Services role with our Conference Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Conference and Event Services, you will coordinate the effective day-to-day operation of Conference and Event Services and supervise, lead, and support a conference and event planning staff team. You will also handle high-level, high profile and complex events at the university, including President’s office events, government press conferences with senior officials, etc.

Key responsibilities include:

- Act as the liaison between CAES, service providers, and the client, including monitoring and ensuring all details and requirements of the event (space, catering, set up, staffing, security, parking, signage, audiovisual support and equipment, and ITS technical support) are clearly communicated, understood, agreed to, completed and delivered on time and as ordered; if requests for changes are submitted by the client, evaluates the request to determine if it can be accommodated and issues an amended contract for the client to re-sign as needed
- Supervise, direct, and guide the event planning team; assign and monitor workload and performance while monitoring and ensuring quality and quantity standards are met
- Ensure the event planning team is appropriately staffed to meet operational needs, balanced by fiscal responsibility
- Serve as a point of contact, reference and escalation for the event planning team; works with staff to discuss problems, provide solutions and advice, and remove barriers to success through active problem-solving and based on knowledge of established processes, practices and standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and makes recommendations for change and implementation
- Identify HR-related needs and develop plans to address them in consultation with HR and the Manager.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A diploma in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or related field.
- Minimum of five years or progressively responsible experience in conference and event planning services, including at least three years of supervisory experience
