**Working for the Department/Faculty**

The Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP) is both an online and on-campus collaborative cohort program foregrounding Indigenous values and methods of teaching, learning, and knowing. This program works towards developing a greater understanding of the Aboriginal culture and perspective on teaching and learning, primarily in schools where Aboriginal children are learning. Our goal is to improve the educational experiences of Aboriginal children by increasing the number of Aboriginal teachers and teachers with an understanding of Aboriginal perspectives in communities all over Alberta.

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education, the onîsohkamâkew - Program and Project Officer (ATEP), is a full-time position responsible for the financial and operational management aspects of ATEP in the Faculty of Education.

**Position**

The onîsohkamâkew - Program and Project Officer (ATEP), reporting to the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education, the daily operations of the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program. The Manager of Programs & Services is accountable for the effective and efficient management of program delivery including scheduling and instructor coordination, finances/budgeting, fund development activities, volunteers, and administrative systems. The onîsohkamâkew - Program and Project Officer (ATEP) supports the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education in decision-making related to all functions of the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP) and its initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education receives timely and accurate information on current and emerging issues and also exercises a significant degree of analytical decision-making and problem solving on behalf of the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education, Vice-Deans and Dean.

**Duties**
- Prepare annual operating budget plans and quarterly forecasts.
- Monitors ATEP’s ongoing financial commitments, ensuring that annual and multi-year commitments are routinely considered to provide accurate reporting and forecasting.
- Secures approval for and manages the organizational structure for ATEP, including writing job fact sheets or position descriptions and determination of requirements for staff positions, including development of new roles within ATEP.
- Engages in ongoing development of viable multi-year course delivery plans, responsive to community needs, which have multiple student cohorts running simultaneously annually for approval by the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education.
- Manages contractual relationships associated with delivery of ATEP, including but not limited to faculty and instructors delivering ATEP courses.
- Oversees the planning and production of ATEP project reports. Writes draft reports for internal and external bodies to be approved by the Associate Dean Indigenous Teacher Education, and provides/writes annual reports in fulfilment of contractual commitments reflective of ATEP’s priorities

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, or other related discipline; Master's Degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
