Reporting to the Moderator of the Curia, the Director of Liturgy provides guidance and advice to the Bishop on the guidelines and practices for all liturgical directives and ongoing formation throughout the Diocese of London.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:

- Advise the Bishop on all liturgical matters, develop guidelines for liturgical practices in the Diocese based on liturgical directives from the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, the National Liturgy Office of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Ontario Liturgical Commission of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario
- Implement new liturgical initiatives through the coordination of workshops for clergy and lay ministers throughout the Diocese
- Provide ongoing formation and support to pastoral teams of Families of Parishes
- Provide liturgical ministry formation opportunities through workshops and retreats for all parish liturgical ministries (Hospitality, Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Music)
- Prepare and coordinate all diocesan liturgical celebrations (Mass of Chrism; Episcopal, Priestly and Diaconal Ordinations; Rite of Election; etc.)
- Compile and assess liturgical formation resources for use in Families of Parishes
- Provide support to parishes for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Children’s Initiation
- Other duties of a similar nature

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Liturgy, Divinity, Pastoral Theology, or an approved certification in liturgical studies
- Solid knowledge of the Church's ritual texts, liturgical documents, and all current directives from the Vatican, CCCB, ACBO
- A minimum five years of experience in a Catholic parish setting, RCIA, liturgical ministries, preparing liturgical celebrations
- A strong background in liturgical music is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, knowledge of related technologies, and the ability to work within a team
- Strong organizational skills, pastoral sensitivity, and the proven ability to multi-task
- Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends is required
- Reliable transportation to travel throughout the Diocese and a current and valid Ontario driver’s license is required
- An understanding of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan, the current diocesan vision “being a mission-oriented church forming disciples of Jesus”, and pastoral priorities is essential
