**Summary of Duties**:
Reporting to the Director, Community Development and Grants,, the Manager I, Neighbourhood Development & Support is responsible for supervision and direction of staff, and for the effective and efficient delivery of programs and initiatives related to the enhancement and strengthening of the City’s neighbourhoods. This position manages programs, initiatives, and special projects; including budget and financial planning, strategic planning and decision making, and engaging multiple stakeholders and community partners_._

**Work Performed**:

- Lead the development and implementation of large-scale community plans and priorities, which may include programs such as London Strengthening Neighbourhood Strategy,, and Neighbourhood Decision Making.
- Direct staff in the undertaking of program/initiative development and implementation, community engagement, program evaluation, and project design initiatives for the Division and recommends program amendments where appropriate.
- Assist with the development and recommendation of strategies to handle issues and influence the outcome of developments or initiatives and assists with the implementation of approved strategies.
- Ensures awareness and understanding of policy matters as they relate to service area operations.
- Supervise and coach assigned personnel: responsible for staffing, employee development, performance appraisals, and conduct matters.
- Coaches and trains staff on corporate and municipal policies, relevant legislation, procedures, directs, guidelines, and local job aids.
- Act as a resource to various committees and networks.
- Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. Facilitates and/or support various internal and external committees and participates in community group meetings.
- Manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects from planning and execution to completion. Manages multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Communicate in multiple formats to a variety of audiences on work-related community plans and priorities and responds effectively to concerns and inquiries in a variety of settings.
- Prepare committee reports, briefing notes, and other related documents to support the operation and special projects undertaken by NCWS.
- Contributes to the development of the strategic plan, objectives, business plans and budgets for the area; manages programs and initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the area’s strategic plan.
- Ensures programs and initiatives meet targets by developing and monitoring metric and/or key performance indicators.
- Continually monitors program and project budgets to ensure compliance; ensures the efficient and responsible use of resources.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural values and norms of various communities, and the social and economic issues that impact the lived experience of citizens.
- Monitor assigned budgets.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration or other related disciplines; or educational equivalent which involves report writing and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Three to five years in community development, community engagement or a relevant social services sector; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable project management experience; managing initiatives from beginning to end, with specific experience in project budget development and monitoring.
- Demonstrated team leadership and team management skills and experience.

**Specialized Training & Licenses**:

- Proven leadership abilities, demonstrating capacity to support services in a dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues both in written and verbal formats, excellent public speaking skills.
- Sound knowledge of community development principles, strategic community-based project management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Diplomacy, tact and political acuity.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex projects with mínimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and the ability to carry out instructions without detailed direction.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to liaise with people from every sector are essential.
- An advanced level of proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong understanding of social media and other forms of electronic communications and how they can be used to achieve communication goals and further strategic policy implementation.
- Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
