**Job Description Summary**
The ILS Programs Coordinator provides a variety of services related to the operations of the Indigenous Legal Studies (ILS) team in the Peter A. Allard School of Law. These responsibilities relate to areas such as the implementation of strategies, programs, and initiatives to support and further the ILS presence in the law school, at UBC, and in the legal and Indigenous communities.
**Organizational Status**
Reporting to the Associate Director, Indigenous Legal Studies, the incumbent will work under general guidelines and direction, and with a high degree of autonomy to carry out the responsibilities of the position. The incumbent will interact primarily with Allard Law and the Indigenous Legal Studies team, but is also required to interact with other UBC offices. The incumbent also liaises with the broader legal and Indigenous communities.

- Coordinates consultation efforts and implements strategies, programs, and initiatives to support and further Indigenous Legal Studies with the input and guidance of the ILS Associate Director;
- Collaborates with the ILS Associate Director to strategize, plan and implement relevant programming specific to prospective and current Indigenous law students;
- Supports the development and maintenance of ILS communications including creating and disseminating ILS Newsletter for Indigenous law students at Allard by soliciting students, the ILS Committee, Associate Director and Academic Director, Indigenous Community Legal Clinic (ICLC), ILS Student Assistant, Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA) and others for content of interest on Indigenous legal issues, and collaborates with other communications teams at UBC, including Allard’s communications teams;
- Researches and implements information technology solutions to enhance ILS offerings and to support the ILS student body: supervising and updating Canvas courses for ILS support programming purposes, in conjunction with the ILS Associate Director and Faculty. Creates Qualtrics surveys and distributes accordingly.
- Works collaboratively with the Associate Director to advance Indigenous Legal Studies with other staff and faculty units at Allard including Student Services, Admissions, CSO, Development, Alumni Relations, Awards and Bursaries, Communications and Website, Canvas and IT, Enrolment Services, and the overall Indigenous Working Group and UBC communities;
- Building on the outcomes from the Allard Strategic Plan, the ILS Strategic Plan and the UBC Indigenous Strategic Plan, works with the Associate Director to identify priorities to advance the scope of Indigenous legal studies offerings and initiatives; proactively attends workshops, information meetings and other events to learn about funding and programming opportunities for ILS;
- Assists with the development, implementation, coordination, administration, financial and donor reporting of ILS programming at Allard at the direction of the Associate Director including the ILS Orientation, the ILS portion of Allard JD and graduate orientations, the ILS Summer Intensive, the ILS Academic Leadership Certificate, the various ILS Speaker Series, co-hosted events with other Allard units and research centres, Kawaskimhon Moot, Indigenous Cultural Competency Certificate; the ILS Elders in Residence Program, and other new and emerging ILS programming & project initiatives;
- Responsible for initiation, coordination and follow up with guests, speakers, vendors, (this is a clerical duty) to meet programming needs, works with finance to complete appropriate forms and administrative duties under the direction of the Associate Director, including budget tracking and management of the multiple ILS related budgets;
- Works with the Associate Director to develop and implement an ILS Student Recruitment Plan, including consultation with Admissions, Communications and UBC recruitment units, ILS students and faculty, including yearly ILS Brochures edits and distribution as well as overall Allard Brochures, web presence and branding;
- If requested, assists with the administration and coordination of the ILS Committee meetings under the direction of the Academic and Associate Directors;
- Attends ILS speaker series and other Allard and UBC and community functions with or on behalf of the Associate Director, when requested;
- When appropriate opportunities arise, collaboratively develops project and grant proposals, and assists with consultation efforts and data collections for same;
- Develops and creates proactive and timely surveys for student engagement purposes, including goals and priorities for future programming, and uses UBC technologies such as Canvas and Qualtric Surveys, and other existing platforms to communicate engagement efforts and results thereof, reporting to the Associate Director, ILS Committee and student bo
