Information Technology (IT) Coordinator

As our IT Coordinator you will help the Town be more productive and effective with the hardware and software we
use, and manage the technology needs of the organization. To thrive in this position, you must enjoy problem
solving and building positive relationships, so that people feel comfortable asking you for help. Experience in digital
transformation projects and moving from a shared drive environment to a Microsoft 365 online environment would
be an asset. Strong oral and written communications skills are required and the ability to articulate complex ideas
into plan language.

The Town of Olds employs approximately 150 people all with their own comfort levels and abilities with technology.
The Town network is spread over 5 different facilities all connected through O-Net and has approximately 100
workstations. The Town also works with an external IT firm to maintain its network and cyber security.

Here is what might happen on a typical day:

- Help users with issues related to both hardware and software, including cell phones.
- Monitor and be aware of the status and security of the town network and be proactive to solve issues or
- problems before they impact users.
- Consult with departments on their technology needs and issues.
- Make recommendations to improve the functionality, productively and effectiveness of the technology within
- the Town.
- Maintain and update hardware and software systems to ensure functionality and security.
- Update documentation, disaster and recovery plans, policies and procedures related to the Towns
- technology.
- Elevate problems to the Town’s an external IT firm when necessary.
- Liaise with external IT firm regarding network, software, and hardware issues.

The wage range for this position is $37.48 - $42.54 per hour. Annual salary is based on a 37.5-hour work week.
This position includes health benefits and participates in the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP).

**JOB TITLE: Information Technology Coordinator (IT Coordinator)
**DEPARTMENT**:Corporate Services **JOB REPORTS TO**:Director of Corporate Services
**FUNCTION/PURPOSE**: The IT Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the technical
aspects of the Town of Olds IT operations. This includes the coordination of IT projects and initiatives, as well
as the management of the organization's external IT contract. The IT Coordinator will work closely with
stakeholders, to ensure that IT systems, services, information management, and cyber security systems are
aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives.

**# KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (% time)**

**1. Technical ** Coordinating and overseeing IT projects and initiatives, including the development of
- project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Managing the organization's external IT contract, including overseeing the delivery of
- services to ensure they meet the organization's needs and expectations.
- Communicating with staff members and stakeholders to gather information on their IT
- needs and requirements, and to provide updates on IT projects and initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with the latest IT technologies and trends and making

recommendations on how to incorporate them into the organization's IT systems and
services.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation on IT systems, services, and

software.
- Liaison with IT contractor to troubleshoot workstation, network, and other IT issues.
- Keep employees informed of internal information. (i.e.) Software updates
- Assist with the setup and configuration of computer equipment in any Town of Olds
- buildings as required.
- Consult user guides, technical manuals and other documents to research and
- implement solutions.
- Reproduce, diagnose, and resolve technical problems encountered by end users.
- Provide business systems, network, and internet support to users in response to
- identified difficulties.
- Collect, organize, and maintain a problems and solutions log for use by other technical
- support analysts.
- Performs software and firmware updates on all town IT equipment to maintain security
- and functionality.
- Maintain inventory, location, and warranty records on all town IT equipment.
