**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Managing the operations of the ICT infrastructure by**:

- Developing processes and procedures to support clients using ICT services.
- Ensuring that necessary security policies and procedures are in place to minimize the risk of security incidents.
- Ensuring adequate backup, restore and archival operations.
- Managing the data centres and relevant cloud-based solutions.

**Strategizing and Planning by**:

- Identifying, researching and analyzing various technology options and developing long range (3-5 year) technology plans.
- Planning and preparing budgets and forecasts along with the capital expenditure requirements for new infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Managing RFP and other processes to select products and vendors and negotiating contracts with vendors for the acquisition of goods and services.
- Staying current with rapidly changing and complex technologies to be able to provide up-to-date technical advice to the college community, university community and/or senior management.

**Administering the ICT Infrastructure department by**:

- Identifying staffing requirements and developing recruitment, succession, retention and training plans to ensure that the department has the highly skilled ICT staff that it requires.
- Providing leadership and mentoring to staff.
- Ensuring that sound practices are followed for procurement in the department.
- Leading risk management for the ICT infrastructure function.
- Functioning as a member of the leadership team of IT Services.
- Managing the budgets.

**Managing projects by**:

- Representing the department and IT Services on project teams and/or leading project teams.
- Analyzing project requirements, developing project plans and budgets, and integrating lCT project plans with external plans as required.
- Scheduling and managing ICT resources, coordinating ICT activities with external activities and resolving conflicts with external activities so that plan objectives are met.

**Managing vendors by**:

- Participating with vendors in the assessment of technologies, tools, methodologies, etc.
- Reviewing and setting service level requirements and reporting for vendors.
- Negotiating and managing contracts with vendors for support, maintenance and other services.
- Ensuring that contractual requirements are met.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A minimum of a 4-year university degree in Computer Science or related field is required
- A basic ITIL certification, and an advanced technology certification, such as networking certification are desirable.
- 10 years’ experience of IT infrastructure services in an enterprise environment
- 5 years’ management experience in the ICT infrastructure context
- 5 years’ experience in handling IT infrastructure-related budgets and overseeing IT infrastructure in a data centre and a cloud environment
- 3 years’ experience in leading and implementing enterprise ICT infrastructure strategies
- Specialization in systems administration is desirable.
- One or more advanced technology certifications (such as a networking certification) are highly desirable.
