Location: Edmonton. This role is eligible for hybrid - this means you’ll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Edmonton), on a scheduled rotation once training requirements have been met. Until then, the successful incumbent will be expected to work on-site, full time.
Work Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
General Accountability
Responsible for investigating, negotiating, and settling automobile bodily injury claims in accordance with the prescribed authority and identifies where the personal injury cap would apply. Majority of files are settled via telephone. Directs and monitors the investigation, negotiation, and/or settlement of clams through the use of independent adjusters when necessary.
Key Accountabilities

Claims Adjusting (60%)- Investigates bodily injury claims.- Evaluates claims and sets up adequate reserves within prescribed authority limit.- Analyzes information gathered, determines coverage, and assesses liability and damages.- Negotiates with claimants and settles within authority limits.- Maintains effective communication with experts, management, and internal and external counsel.- Directs and monitors the investigation, negotiation, and/or settlement of claims through the use of independent adjusters (when necessary due to the nature of the claim).
Customer Experience (10%)- Supports corporate culture and vision which fosters positive relationship with our insureds and third parties.- Provides timely and professional customer service.- Handles claims issues and resolutions in a proactive manner.- Engages in dialogue supporting team efficiencies and process improvements
Stakeholder Relationship (10%)- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with insureds, brokers, service providers, legal counsel, company, and industry participants.- Provides insight for auto adjusters to aid in investigation and coordination of experts.
Leadership (10%)- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development, and supports the development in others.- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training, and developmental opportunities.
Corporate Management (10%)- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic, and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.
Education and experience- A two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business or Health.- 1 - 3 years’ experience in adjudicating claims of varying complexity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of the principles and practice of insurance, claims policies and procedures, and automobile insurance products.- Knowledge of Minor Injury Regulation.- Knowledge of medical terminology.- Knowledge of the legal process as it relates to bodily injury claims.- Ability to quantify loss based on medical documentation.
