**POSITION OVERVIEW**:

- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques used in managing various forms of land use planning projects.
- Thorough knowledge of the policies, rules, by-laws, and regulations governing the work of the department.
- Ability to administer and direct the Community Planning section operations, programs and projects with a corporate strategic focus and provide a high degree of leadership.
- Strong leadership skills to guide subordinate staff towards successful outcomes and workplace objectives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective liaison and working relationships with internal contacts, governmental and business officials and representatives and the public.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and represent the section in meeting and dealing with Boards, Committees and Commissions on planning matters and projects.
- Ability to prepare professional and technical planning and/or administrative reports and studies, and analyze and evaluate data for complex problem solutions.
- A graduate degree from a recognized planning program or closely related field
- Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners.
