Position: HR Manager
For over 60 years, Preszler Injury Lawyers has restricted its practice to claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip and falls, product liability, sexual assault, wrongful dismissal, accident benefits, disability claims, and medical malpractice. We are seeking an organized, service-oriented, and hands-on HR Manager to join and strengthen our HR department. The successful candidate will support day-to-day HR operations and people initiatives in a fast-paced professional environment while providing practical guidance to employees and managers throughout the employment lifecycle.
This is a hybrid position requiring attendance at our Toronto office at least three days per week. The ideal candidate will bring broad HR generalist experience, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and experience in a legal or professional services environment.
Manage end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, and reference checks
Provide timely and practical HR support to employees and managers regarding policies, forms, workplace concerns, and next steps
Support performance management processes, including coaching, documentation, action plans, and follow-up
Manage employee relations matters, maintain accurate documentation, and escalate legal or high-risk issues to senior leadership or external counsel as appropriate
Maintain accurate HR records, trackers, and reports with a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail
Support benefits administration, workplace accommodations, leaves of absence, and the preparation of employment-related letters
Coordinate training, employee engagement initiatives, and internal HR communications
Review and update HR policies and practices to support compliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational needs
Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, reporting, and the overall employee experience
Perform other duties as required to support the HR department and the firm
Minimum three years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or similar role
Working knowledge of Ontario employment standards, human rights obligations, and HR best practices
Strong written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience in a legal or professional services environment is an asset
CHRP or CHRL designation, or active progress toward a designation, is an asset
The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of both day-to-day HR matters and longer-term people initiatives. You should be approachable and service-oriented while maintaining appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
