Our team is fast-paced, collaborative, and driven by a mission to transform how fresh food gets to market.About the RoleThe Financial Controller at Haven Greens is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial management, including full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will play a pivotal part in ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and informed decision-making as the company continues its rapid growth.This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional with expertise in controllership, general ledger management, and treasury. The ideal candidate thrives in a growth-stage, entrepreneurial environment and is excited to shape the financial foundation of an innovative, sustainability-focused company.ResponsibilitiesOversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.Prepare year-end financial package for external review and tax filings.Perform variance analysis against forecast and budget to support decision-making.Oversee benefit deductions, WSIB, EHT, and other statutory payroll reporting requirements.Maintain intercompany balances between related entities and review all transactions and ensure no duplication.Manage cash flow planning to meet operational needs.Develop, implement, and maintain internal accounting policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls.Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal tax and regulatory requirements.Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Support cost accounting, job costing, and project-level financial analysis in collaboration with operations.Liaise with external accountants, banks, and financial institutions as required.Support additional finance and operational tasks as required in a fast-paced startup environment.QualificationsMust-Have:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.CPA designation (or in final stages of completion).Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including controllership responsibilities.Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax laws, and compliance requirements.Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration, and statutory reporting.Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.Nice-to-Have:Experience in food manufacturing, agriculture, or other production-based industries.Cost accounting and project accounting experience.Experience working with QuickBooks, Dext, Plooto, and/or Power BI.Prior experience in a startup or growth-stage company.Working at Haven GreensAt Haven Greens, we are committed to creating a workplace where our team feels supported, valued, and inspired to achieve their best.
