Duties Plan, implement and coordinate therapeutic recreation programs for the Schizophrenia program under the direction of the Manager, Patient Care Services. Develop goals, objectives, policies and procedures for recreation and leisure services based on client needs and best practices. Create individualized recreation plans, conduct assessments, and prepare required reports in compliance with ROHCG policies and TRO standards. Facilitate client participation in recreation, leisure and educational activities. Organize outings and community based activities, research suitable opportunities for clients with severe mental illness. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, families and community agencies to coordinate services. Manage equipment resources, supervise students and volunteers and support quality and risk management initiatives. Ensure program information is accessible to clients and families, promote opportunities for client involvement in planning and participation. Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the Royal. Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy. Qualifications University degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or a post‑grad Therapeutic Recreation diploma Experience working with clients who suffer from a severe mental illness Knowledge of the impact of diagnosis on leisure functioning Ability to design and lead client‑centered, evidence‑based recreation therapy and leisure programs. Experience conducting assessments, developing and evaluating therapeutic programs, documenting outcomes, and developing community connections. Experience working in a Community setting is an asset. Membership in Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is an asset and eligible for registration. Class F license is an asset. English level A- in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing is mandatory. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
