Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the Estimator assists and supports the estimating team on projects opportunities using standardized estimating processes and tools. The incumbent is accountable for determining project scopes, providing accurate quantification and costing, managing deadlines, and possesses the ability to interpret all tender documents, work collaboratively, and communicate clearly with the Graham team and with industry partners. This role is based in our Edmonton Office. Execution Determine the project scope of work Analyze design criteria and assist in recommending best options based on cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials Compile third party bids for solicitation of third‑party material and or subcontractor pricing Complete estimate quantification and draft costing of labour, equipment, material, and subtrade amounts Collaborate with project team members to develop accurate and competitive estimates Participate in the identification of project risk and cost mitigation, as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings Set‑up and complete discipline estimates in company standard estimating programs Participate in the analysis of potential strategies, advantages, or innovations for the project that could provide Graham with a more competitive bid Analyze subcontractor bids for irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included Financial Accountabilities Provide accurate assessments of risk and scope for delegated portions of an overall estimate Client Focus Build upon and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders that reflect and support Graham core values HSEQ Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations Identify project‑specific HSE and Quality risks and propose mitigation plans for these items in the estimate Leadership Cultivate and participate in a constructive, collaborative, and engaged team environment which includes estimators, operations teams, and industry partners Continuous Growth Strive for continuous improvement and learning, both from past experience and through formal channels Demonstrate an increasing level of professionalism / confidence and increased autonomy Results Driven Demonstrate a competitive passion and high‑performance attitude Establish milestones throughout the estimate lifecycle and meet or exceed goals Preferred Qualifications Completion of a diploma or degree in a related post‑secondary program 1 to 5 years of construction‑related experience, or drafting experience; proficiency in a variety of general procurement methods is an asset Proficiency in the use of MS Excel and interpretation of design drawings. Previous experience with estimating software or BIM modelling is an asset Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, scheduling software (Primavera preferred), quantification software (Autocad, Bluebeam, Agtek), and BIM modelling is an asset Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with above average organizational and time management abilities Ability to comprehend tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with a basic understanding of contractual requirements General understanding of all construction scopes of work The majority of work is completed in the office with some mobility required locally for site walkthroughs, site condition reviews, and in‑progress project visits Occasional travel to project work sites or other branch locations to offer short‑term support may be requested Due to the nature of non‑negotiable closing times, flexibility with working hours may be required to ensure deadlines are met (e.g., longer working days, weekends) Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full‑time Job function Management and Manufacturing Industries Construction Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Graham by 2x Get notified about new Estimator jobs in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
