The Arts & Crafts Hotel is a boutique hotel built inside of the historic Arts & Crafts heritage building in the Downtown Vancouver Business District. The brand-new hotel will be a revamped space of the Arts & Crafts heritage building that was built in 1911. While the building has been rebranded multiple times since, the hotel now has 73 rooms across 7 levels as well as a rooftop patio and a ground floor restaurant. The Hotel offers guests a unique opportunity to stay in the heart of Downtown Vancouver in a heritage building with a modern design. 


Role Description

This is a full-time role for a General Manager (Pre-Opening) at the Arts & Crafts Hotel. The General Manager (Pre-Opening) will play a key role in the successful launch and ongoing operation of our new hotel. This individual will be involved in all aspects of the pre-opening phase, including construction planning, design development, and staffing. Once the hotel is open, the General Manager will assume full responsibility for its day-to-day operations, ensuring the highest standards of service, profitability, and guest satisfaction. This is an on-site role based in Vancouver, BC.


As a General Manager (Pre-Opening), your role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Working closely with the executive team and project managers to ensure the successful completion of the hotel construction and design phase
  • Recruiting, hiring, and training key staff members, including department heads and front-line employees
  • Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the hotel


Qualifications and Job Summary

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within the hospitality industry, preferably within a boutique hotel or downtown hotel
  • Strong financial acumen and proven experience in managing budgets, financial planning, and cost control measures
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices within the hospitality industry
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and systems
  • Pre-opening experience of a hotel
  • Project management experience
