The Head Custodian in service at Branch 560 is a member of the Branch's professional supervisory staff team and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a visibly high standard of order and cleanliness in the delivery of custodial and related services pertaining to the physical appearance, presentation and maintenance of the Branch's building and grounds.

Reports to the Building Manager

Supervises Part-Time Custodian

  • Sweeping and mopping of floors
  • Vacuuming/cleaning carpeted areas and mats
  • Cleaning and sanitizing washrooms and all surfaces
  • Ensuring that all hand towel, toilet paper and hand soap dispensers are kept supplied
  • Garbage removal
  • Purchasing cleaning materials
  • Setting up rooms as per instruction for client room rentals
  • Supervising part-time helper

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Ability to speak, read and write English well and understand directions.

Frequent bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing items weighing up to 30 pounds.

Physical ability to meet the demands of the position without injuring yourself or others.

Follow procedures that ensure the security of assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, and furnishings.

Customer service skills.

Work as part of a team, being open with your communication.

Maintain a clean and neat appearance during work hours.

Minimum 3 years experience in commercial cleaning and building maintenance.

Provide a satisfactory criminal records check (CPIC) prior to hire.

Driver’s licence

May be required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to perform handyman tasks an asset

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Experience:

  • Cleaning: 1 year (preferred)
  • janitorial: 1 year (preferred)

Language:

  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)

Work Location: In person
