Job Description:
The Municipal Industry Training Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing training programs tailored to meet the specific needs of municipal employees undertaking municipal infrastructure projects in the province. The primary goal of this role will be to enhance the construction sector knowledge of municipal staff members to ensure effective service delivery and timely compliance with industry standards and project requirements. By focusing on training, the Municipal Industry Training Coordinator will empower municipal employees with the knowledge and skills needed to undertake municipal infrastructure projects and activities effectively, ethically, and more efficiently, ultimately contributing to getting project underway and completed more quickly.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with department heads and municipal officials to assess training needs and identify areas for knowledge enhancement in construction practices and procurement processes.
Design and Coordinate comprehensive training programs and workshops based on the diverse identified needs of municipal staff undertaking municipal infrastructure projects, incorporating both theoretical and hands-on learning methodologies.
Develop training materials covering various all aspects and the various stages of municipal infrastructure projects to facilitate effective learning experiences, including presentations, manuals, and multimedia resources, and facilitate the training sessions.
Implement evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training initiatives, such as pre- and post-training assessments, participant feedback surveys, assessments, and performance evaluations/metrics analysis.
Analyze data and modify training initiatives as necessary based on evaluation results and changing industry trends or requirements. This may include refining training content, methodologies, and delivery approaches.
Stay updated on construction industry advancements, best practices, and requirements to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among municipal employees through ongoing support and encouragement.
Collaborate with external training providers, educational institutions, and industry experts to leverage resources and expertise for specialized training needs.
Staying abreast of changes in construction technologies, procurement requirements and industry standards to ensure training materials and programs remain up-to-date and relevant.
Facilitate networking opportunities for municipal staff to connect with peers, share experiences, and learn from each other’s successes and challenges in procuring and managing construction projects.

Qualifications:
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs, preferably in a municipal or government setting.
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proficiency in using technology for training purposes, including learning management systems, multimedia tools, and virtual training platforms.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including departmental managers, subject matter experts, and external partners.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and metrics to inform decision-making and program improvements.
Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changing priorities, unforeseen challenges, and evolving training needs within a dynamic municipal environment.
Commitment to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through training initiatives and practices.
Knowledge of the construction sector would be considered an asset.
