Event Specialist – Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia Join to apply for the Event Specialist role at Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. Reporting To Associate Director, Member & Community Events Job Summary The Event Specialist manages relationships with assigned Chapters and leads the planning and execution of in‑house member engagement events. This role provides volunteer support, coordinates events, and analyzes engagement data to drive continuous improvement in event delivery and volunteer engagement. Key Responsibilities Chapter Relationship Management Serve as the primary liaison for assigned Chapters, conducting regular check‑ins and attending Chapter meetings and events. Guide Chapter volunteers on event planning, member engagement, and budget processes. Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and training. Review Event Promotion Forms and confirm event details in alignment with CPABC policies and budget, coordinating setup with the Event Coordinator. Review engagement data, distribute survey results, and share observations with volunteers to support continuous improvement. Support Chapter leaders’ meetings and training sessions. Recommend approval of Chapter event forecasts to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Lead the annual Chapter Committee Evaluation and review results with leaders. Conduct quarterly reviews of Chapter spending versus budget. Distribute monthly and quarterly statistics to Chapter volunteers. Provide ad‑hoc support to the Event Coordinator with backend logistics and inquiries. Professional Events & Conference Services Plan and execute CPABC’s in‑house member engagement events and support the convocation and selective conferences. Collaborate with the External Affairs & Communications team on event marketing and communications plans. Manage relationships with speakers, sponsors, and suppliers. Oversee all event logistics: venue coordination, AV, catering, and registration. Set up event registration pages and communications, create post‑event surveys. Compile comprehensive post‑event debrief reports and facilitate strategic debrief sessions. Design and manage event technology platforms (e.g., mobile apps). Support budgeting, financial tracking, and post‑event reporting for assigned events. Key Requirements Knowledge and Experience Bachelor’s degree or post‑secondary education in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Five (5) or more years of experience in event and conference planning, with budget management and contract negotiation. Proven experience working with volunteers and managing stakeholder relationships. Strong background in event marketing and communications. Demonstrated Skills and Abilities Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., iMIS), event platforms, and mobile conference apps. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and basic HTML. Exceptional organizational, planning, and creative abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Excellent presentation, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze data and provide strategic recommendations. Willingness to travel regularly and work occasional evenings and weekends. Valid driver’s license and vehicle access as needed. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Experience in sponsorship sales.
