JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Manager, Inuit Crown Partnership Committee, will work with the ITK executive, relevant Directors, and staff co-leads to manage and oversee the Inuit Crown Partnership Committee process for ITK. The successful candidate will work with ITK staff involved in the ICPC process, leads from Inuit Treaty Organization, as well as Permanent Participant organizations, to identify and advance strategic priorities, assist with the development and monitoring of workplans, as well as the development of meeting materials and reports. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for working with senior federal officials and federal ICPC co-leads on priorities, work planning and reporting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

REPRESENTATION AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the federal department of Crown-Indigenous Relations’ Reconciliation Secretariat and ITK for all matters related to ICPC.
  • Provide advice to ITK, to Inuit Treaty Organizations and to ICPC working groups on strategies for identifying and advancing Inuit priorities through the ICPC process.
  • Oversee ICPC relationships with Inuit Treaty Organizations and Permanent Participant Senior officials and co-leads.
  • Work with ITK management to ensure consistent input and planning into the ICPC process.
  • Work with ITK’s ICPC co-leads to ensure consistent planning and preparation for ICPC meetings.

POLICY

  • Act as a resource and provide strategic guidance and advice to ITK Co-leads, as well as the Inuit Caucus of the Senior officials working group.
  • Attend and participate in relevant ICPC working groups as needed.
  • Collaborate with relevant national policy stakeholders, organizations and associations and Inuit Treaty Organizations.
  • Develop, train and orient ITK Staff, relevant regional staff on ICPC process.

COMMUNICATION

  • Make presentations to working groups, ITK leadership and ITK Board of Directors as required.
  • Work with ITK communications team to develop relevant communications tools related to ICPC.
  • Maintain working relationships with federal counterparts and build relationships acrossfederal departments in relation to the ICPC.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Establish and maintain oversight on ICPC process including workplans.
  • Work with an internal ITK management ICPC advisory group.
  • Ensures ITK Co-Chair for the Senior Officials process is briefed on the status of ICPC workplans and related activities and is prepared for ICPC Senior Officials meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth understanding of Inuit governance structures and awareness of Inuit community needs and values.
  • Understanding of broader policy issues facing Inuit (including multi-faceted aspects related to Inuit and health, environmental, socio-cultural, economic development issues).
  • Working knowledge of Inuit land claim agreements and related legislation and policy frameworks.
