Senior Consultants at ERM lead and contribute to successful consulting engagements, support marketing and business management, and actively contribute to the internal growth and development of our team, our systems and our culture. Based on their professional experience, Senior Consultants typically focus on a particular ERM advisory service area but can adapt to support other areas when needed – versatility and cross-fertilization across business lines is an important factor underlying ERM’s success.

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Consultant who will manage and contribute to projects in Inuit Nunangat that touch on themes related to Indigenous self-determination, reconciliation, and socio-economic development in collaborative and multi-stakeholder environments. Given the cross-cutting nature of these topics, there may be an opportunity to expand the scope of work to other regions of Canada (e.g., Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Colombia), should this be of interest. Your work is expected to include supporting existing consulting relationships as well as the development of new opportunities, as well as advancing our internal practices.

The Senior Consultant, Inuit Nunangat is accountable for:

  • Supporting the design and implementation of tailored approaches to gathering input from varied stakeholders, including facilitating group decision-making discussions
  • Managing all aspects of projects, including developing work plans, tracking performance against budgets, leading project teams, and liaising directly with clients
  • Completing required research, interviews, and running multi-stakeholder workshops, then synthesizing collected data and information to prepare clear and compelling reports and presentations that contribute to the successful completion of a consulting engagement.
  • Contributing to business development and marketing activities in the firm by activating your own network, extending this network over time, and preparing client proposals and marketing materials
  • Thinking critically and strategically, helping to influence the impact of our work and the outcomes for our clients.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH

ERM offers a truly impactful work experience with opportunities to grow, lead and contribute to areas that matter to you.

  • Your impact may be felt personally – leading a project from start to finish, or through working as part of a bright, dynamic team with a good work-life balance.

  • You will impact the ability of ERM’s clients to deliver on their mandates. We work with a wide variety of organizations whose work can significantly enhance or impede sustainability and our collective pursuit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Your work at ERM will help them shape and better fulfil their important visions.

If you have a passion for Indigenous self-determination and reconciliation, with a specific interest in Inuit Nunangat and Northern-focused projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to collaborate with an expert consulting team on interesting natural resource management projects. Our clients span a wide range of corporate, government and non-government clients— we help them achieve positive and tangible social, environmental, and economic impact. As a team, we are shaping a sustainable future with the world’s leading organizations.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s level degree required in a discipline related to natural resource governance, sustainability, or Indigenous studies.
  • Minimum five years' work experience with at least two years of relevant experience in Inuit Nunangat and/or on the topics of land claims and natural resource governance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable community and/or resource development, collaborative processes, and northern regulatory regimes
  • Practical experience in developing policies and plans, providing strategic advice, stakeholder engagement and facilitation, and research and analysis would be a valuable asset.
  • Previous consulting experience and/or experience working with Indigenous peoples/organizations is highly desirable.

Your skills include:

  • Facilitating multi-stakeholder engagements and initiatives
  • Writing clearly and succinctly for different audiences
  • Leading project teams and liaising directly with clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (in speaking and writing), as evidenced by clear and respectful communications with colleagues and clients.
  • Taking a proactive approach to problem-solving and creating value for ERM and our clients
  • Maintaining a network of relationships and can comfortably discuss ideas for follow on work with clients that will increase the value provided by ERM/Stratos
  • Prioritizing and managing multiple client/stakeholder deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
