OverviewBuilding Services Manager (2026-9564) at Verve Senior Living Join to apply for the Building Services Manager role at Verve Senior Living. Accountability and Responsibilities Under the direction of the general manager, perform a variety of routine maintenance, service and repair operations to maintain facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and grounds in accordance with applicable guidelines, codes, vision, values and standards of Verve Senior Living. Work with Housekeeping to ensure residents’ needs are met and that building quality, cleanliness and safety standards are upheld. Establish and manage a preventative maintenance program, including inspections (daily, weekly, monthly, annual), periodic testing of life safety systems, and keeping required records as per Diversicare/Verve policies and procedures. Respond to service requests promptly and maintain records of services provided. Collaborate with Marketing to refurbish suites to optimal condition for new move-ins, and ensure any damage costs are invoiced to the previous tenant. Cooperate with other departments to assist residents with maintenance needs, moving and storing supplies, and being available and flexible to resident and family needs as required. Monitor service contracts and warranties to ensure equipment and environment conform to applicable codes and regulations; ensure external contractors provide proof of WCB and criminal records checks. Maintain accurate control of all Master keys. Perform outside work as needed, including gardening, snow removal, and dealing with environmental spills. Contribute to fire prevention, infection control and pest control programs; ensure regular fire drills are conducted and documented where applicable. Support all departments to increase efficiency and resident occupancy. Participate in leadership activities and contribute to the overall operations of the residence in alignment with the vision and values of Verve Senior Living. Participate in strategic planning, operations meetings and Verve Quality Improvement (VQI); provide input for policy and procedure modifications. Participate in and support financial management of the residence, including capital and operating budgeting, inventory and variance reporting. Qualifications Minimum of grade 12. Knowledge of WHMIS and first aid. Certificate in building operations and/or 2-3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment. Computer skills (proficient in Word and Excel; familiar with online ordering systems and electronic building systems). Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., Verve Senior Living Competencies). Strong written and verbal communication in English. Ability to read and interpret manuals and drawings related to equipment and systems and audit/deficiency standards. Ability to organize, multitask and meet physical demands, including problem solving and handling emergency situations. Attention to detail and task orientation; ability to meet targets and deadlines.
