Job Description AECOM is seeking a motivated and qualified Mechanical Engineer to support the design and installation of heavy mechanical equipment for hydroelectric power plants. The work covers new developments and refurbishment projects (e.g., gates, debris racks, winches, overhead cranes). Key Responsibilities Prepare deliverables such as presentation materials, design criteria, calculations, studies, drawings, technical specifications, equipment selections, and cost estimates. Conduct field surveys to incorporate existing conditions into construction documents. Provide technical follow‑up during construction: review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, perform inspections, and manage client requests. Work effectively within a project team, demonstrating strong communication and client‑interface skills. Coordinate work with other disciplines involved in the project. Ensure compliance with the company’s health & safety policies and quality management systems. Perform tasks within deadlines and budgets, exercising autonomy. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Minimum 4 years’ experience designing heavy mechanical equipment for hydroelectric facilities. Member in good standing of a Provincial Order of Engineers (or eligible for immediate registration). Excellent written and oral English. Preferred: Over 6 years’ experience in heavy mechanical equipment design for hydroelectric facilities. Knowledge of the French language. Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit. Experience working in multidisciplinary internal teams.
