Field Service Engineer vacancy in Grimsby & Surrounding Areas (280jc) Field Service Engineer (280jc) – Grimsby & Surrounding Areas - £31 – 38k (DOE) + Benefits Are you a former military technician, mechanic, or engineer looking for a role that values your discipline, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently? A global leader in forklift trucks and warehouse equipment is looking for Field Service Engineers to join their team in Grimsby, Immingham, and Lincoln – and they’re particularly keen to recruit from armed forces veterans. This is a role where your military engineering background is genuinely recognised. If you’ve worked with vehicle platforms, plant equipment, armoury, REME workshops, Royal Engineers kit, MT sections, or similar, your experience is highly transferable. The Role You’ll work across a wide range of material‑handling equipment – from pallet trucks to VNA trucks and automated systems. Your day‑to‑day will include: Diagnosing and repairing faults Performing preventative maintenance Servicing forklifts and other lifting equipment on customer sites Carrying out safety checks (oil, fuel, hoses, steering, brakes, electrics) Providing clear, confident customer communication Upholding the company’s reputation as a professional and reliable engineer This role suits someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and problem‑solving – very much like life on the ground in technical roles within the forces. What They’re Looking For Strong mechanical engineering background (military experience highly regarded) Confident working independently or as part of a team Good communication and time‑management skills Experience with plant, vehicles, mechanical systems, powered access equipment, agricultural machinery or forklifts is a bonus Full UK driving licence What You’ll Receive £31–38k salary depending on experience Choice of 40‑hour or 45‑hour week (Monday–Friday) 25 days holiday + bank holidays 6% employer pension contribution Company vehicle, uniform, tools & equipment provided 6‑week world‑class induction programme Continuous professional development, specialist product training Fully funded Forklift Driver Licence This is a stable, well‑structured engineering role with long‑term career development – ideal for veterans seeking a rewarding civilian pathway in a company that values technical skill, reliability and professionalism.
