Outside Sales Representative, HVAC at Independent Mechanical Supply Independent Mechanical Supply (IMS) has been a trusted distributor of plumbing, hydronics, and HVAC products in the Greater Toronto Area since 2009. Overview IMS is seeking a driven, flexible, and forward‑thinking Outside Sales Representative to champion our HVAC Materials division across the Greater Toronto Area. This role focuses on new business acquisition, relationship‑building, and strategic support for our existing sales team. Key Responsibilities Develop New Business: Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new HVAC materials customers leveraging your own network, industry knowledge, and market presence to grow IMS’s book of business. Relationship Cultivation: Build and sustain strong, trust‑based relationships with both new and existing customers, ensuring IMS is their first choice for HVAC materials. Act as a consultative partner who understands their business needs, anticipates challenges, and brings tailored solutions. Harvest Existing Opportunities: Collaborate with the broader IMS sales team to uncover and grow HVAC opportunities within the current customer base. Provide support, insight, and partnership that helps drive deeper HVAC penetration and success for your colleagues. Technical & Product Expertise: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for customers, providing accurate, timely information, troubleshooting technical product issues, and guiding them to the best solutions for residential and commercial HVAC projects. Portfolio Management: Maintain and grow a sales portfolio with a focus on maintaining margins. Assist the Credits/Returns Team with rectifying any outstanding returns/payment discrepancies affecting your accounts. Market Coverage: Actively cover a territory spanning the Greater Toronto Area adapting your approach to local market nuances and growth trends. Vendor & Partner Relations: Build strategic vendor relationships that enable better pricing, availability, and delivery, advocating for IMS’s interests and those of your customers. Team Collaboration: Support, educate, and champion the IMS sales team. Share insights, mentor newer staff, and foster a culture of collective success, while driving your own results. Continuous Growth & Learning: Embrace new product knowledge, stay on top of HVAC industry trends, and bring an open, future‑focused mindset to the role. Always be looking for what’s next. Compliance & Reporting: Adhere to all IMS, customer, and regulatory requirements across safety, warehouse operations, and government compliance. Profile & Qualifications Minimum 3 years’ successful outside sales experience in HVAC materials. Proven track record of bringing in new business (preferably with an established industry network in the GTA). Ability to balance business development (“hunting”) with supporting team‑based account growth (“harvesting”). Flexible, open‑minded, and able to spot trends and future opportunities before they surface. Strong communicator, able to build trust with customers, teammates, and vendors alike.
