Study Coordinator, Rural Research Participation

Job Summary The Coordinator, Rural Research Participation, Centre for Rural Health Research, is responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator and key partners to investigate, understand, and document the barriers to proportionate inclusion of rural participants in health-related research. This work involves capturing the lived experiences of rural community members who have and have not participated in research studies and prioritizing data outputs that can inform increased inclusion at a regional and provincial level. Compensation and Dates $6,747.50 – $9,701.42 CAD monthly (Salary range). Posting End Date: November 14, 2025 (Applications accepted until 11:59 PM). Job End Date: October 30, 2026. Work Performed The Rural Research Participation Coordinator will be responsible for: Oversee the project, including preparing ethics application, developing qualitative instruments (survey and interview guide), overseeing and participating in ongoing data collection and analysis, and drafting and reviewing project reports, manuscripts, and other knowledge translation materials. Administrative functions: liaise with key partners in universities and granting agencies to keep them informed of progress and set up and maintain project grants. Human resources: supervise UBC Work Learn students, organize, support, and motivate the project team. Project management: plan short‑ and long‑term activities, estimate costs, maintain adherence to the project budget, monitor overall progress and use of resources, prepare quarterly financial and activity reports to funders, plan and facilitate weekly team meetings, facilitate regular Community Advisory Committee meetings with the PI, and develop grant applications for leveraged funding. Day-to-Day Operations Establish ongoing priorities, directions, work plans and timelines within the context, responsibilities and deliverables of the project. Engage in all aspects of the project work, identify project strategy and goals in the context of the project framework. Collaborate independently, build and manage relationships with local and regional partners. Manage ethics applications and oversee and ensure personnel support is provided. Write and submit grant applications, directing them to appropriate funding sources where and if appropriate. Manage the work of WorkLearn and FLEX students. Consult with team members to organize, implement, and coordinate project deliverables. Investigate, identify, and take action on new research opportunities. Contribute to knowledge translation activities with a focus on facilitating the submission of academic publications for peer review. Scientific Responsibilities, Knowledge Sharing & Knowledge Translation Develop manuscripts, reports, and presentations of process, milestones, and review findings as required. Prepare quarterly updates for circulation among the team and partners. Lead ongoing interactions with team members and partner groups. Review scientific manuscripts and abstracts for publication. Investigate and identify knowledge translation opportunities and guide related activities. Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of two years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including those in conflict with one’s own. Demonstrated commitment to enhancing awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in rural health service research (an asset). Strong experience with qualitative and quantitative research, including survey design, delivery, and analysis, with qualitative research preferred. Ability to build and work within collaborative environments. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively manage staff. Familiarity with rural health services (an asset). Computer proficiency and intermediate competency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and data analysis software such as SPSS and NVivo. Strong communication skills, effective presentation skills, and ability to convey information to both academic and lay audiences. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders. Highly organized, with proven skills in project management, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, determine implications, and provide recommendations. Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and work under pressure to meet difficult deadlines. Ability to review, critique, and synthesize literature and information from various sources. Ability to exercise tact, discretion, sound judgment, and strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative and self‑directedness.
