Position Summary The General Manager, Manufacturing, is responsible for coordinating daily operations and is accountable for the commercial functions of planning, organizing, directing and improving the Equipment manufacturing process. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary range: $120,000 – $160,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and technical expertise Benefits and RRSP matching available following probation Opportunities for growth and advancement Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop, implement and present to Executive team an annual Strategic Plan for business group, aligned with Corporate Plans, showing appropriate growth as determined in consultation with Executive sponsor Lead, motivate, and support Manufacturing Project Management team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution Assist the Project Manager(s) with the execution of multiple projects while working closely with the project management team to drive performance and minimize risk Assist the Project Manager(s) with job reporting and monthly job status reports for labor hours, productivity, cash flow, expected cost-at-completion, profit margin, and revenue Coordinate with other teams to implement strategies and cross-training efforts Establish and build customer relations, continuously seeking business development opportunities and assisting with estimating tenders for new projects Lead the negotiations and purchasing of major equipment, trade subcontracts and sub-trade clients Monitor Quality Control/Quality Assurance, ensuring that manufacturing operations adhere to the company’s ISO Quality Management System Ensure awareness and implementation of the company’s Environmental and Health & Safety programs Manage and direct the work activities of staff, determining recruitment needs as required and working with HR on performance management and employee relations issues Adhere to all company workplace policies, standards, procedures and safe work practices and, Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Candidate Profile A minimum of 10 years’ progressive operations management experience with a proven reputation of successful results In-depth knowledge of the electrical industry with a general knowledge of building construction, mechanical and civil components Experience in partnering with clients, trade contractors and consultants which rely on creative decision making and balancing priorities Exceptional ability to help manage multiple projects and project teams to reach milestone targets and achieve critical success Strong Financial Planning, Auditing and Budgeting skills Thorough knowledge of contract language, change management and legal requirements of contracts; Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills Ability to effectively liaise and co-ordinate with internal and external project stakeholders Experience in a union environment an asset Interested candidates can forward their resume and cover letter via careers@cormorantutility.com.
